Gotta love new stuff!
I have been watching a lot of DIY channel and HGTV lately for the lack of entertainment here in Vernal. And I gotta tell you, it's been hard to keep myself from improving or repainting something after watching all those videos! So, yesterday I stumbled upon this DIY toddler bed project. We were actually in the process of deciding on the new sleeping arrangements for a number of reasons. Elliot started climbing out of his crib around 15 or 16 months, so we had to turn it around to be able to keep him in. But it was just a matter of time until it wouldn't work either. And now with the new baby coming Elliot needs a new bed for sure.
So, we went to Lowes, got some plywood (they were nice to cut it for us too:))), and about 2 hours later we had a new bed frame. And I was surprised how excited Ell was about it! We put it up this morning (of course I couldn't just stop at that, so he had a whole room makeover), and he actually is taking a nap in it right now!

Random
I wanted to write this post last night after Elliot went to bed, but I got so tired and fell asleep at 9pm ( I know, I know, shame on me!)
It has been so much fun lately to watch Elliot, so I thought I'd share with you. He grows and changes so amazingly fast! He has been talking gibberish for a while now, but it actually starts to make sense to me. Yes, most of the time i can understand him!!!
The other day I got so tired of staying at home all day. It has been really cold here in Vernal. So I decided to bundle up and go get mail. I asked Elliot if he wanted to go outside, and he goes "Par???" (meaning park). Poor kid was disappointed when we just went around the block.
He repeats everything I say nowadays! It's so funny because sometimes it doesn't sound anything like what I say. It took me a few days to figure out what "di-di" means. We have a little morning routine with him: he gets up around 7:30, i turn the TV on for him and go back to sleep for a bit; exactly at 8 he comes back in, pulls my hand saying di-di over and over. Turns out it's a cereal he wants! It doesn't resemble anything that has to do with breakfast in any language we speak at home! Go figure!
He is so social! Every time we are out in public, he waves at people. We went to the pharmacy yesterday, and there was an old man in line behind us with a cart full of groceries. At first Elliot noticed milk, and then started naming other stuff he saw in the cart. Then he pointed at the man and said something, and started waving. And then he pointed at me and stated to the man that i am his "mama". I couldn't help but smile! Such a cutie! Speaking of moms, according to Elliot he has two of them! Yes, Justin is "mama" too! No matter how hard we try to teach him to say dad or papa! Stubborn kid, I wonder where he gets that from?
Elliot is so full of energy it's hard to keep up with him, especially being pregnant. Yes, for those who haven't heard the news yet, we are expecting another baby in May! We have the ultrasound picture hanging on our fridge, so Justin taught Elliot to say "baby". Now every time Elliot comes over to the fridge, he points at it, says baby and gives it kisses.Occasionally I get a kiss on my belly too!
Elliot has been climbing like crazy! The other day I found him in the closet. He climbed on to the dresser, and was swinging on the bar for hangers!
A couple of weeks ago Elliot decided he was too big for his potty, so he started to climb on the big toilet instead!!!At first I thought he was just exploring, but he actually used it! That was a week after we bought him a little portable potty to use in public restrooms! I wish I would have known!
We went to the doctor for our 18 month check up two weeks ago. Well, our boy is growing well. He is 31lbs (98%) and 34" tall (95% i believe) - that's the size of an average 2 year old according to our pediatrician, and I know there are 3-year-olds in Elliot's nursery class that are about the same size. I get the feeling he might be bigger than Justin when he grows up.
