October - November 2012

It's been a while since I had time to post anything at all, so this will be a catch up post.

I thought I'd take a minute to write a new post while Elliot is falling asleep.
We took the boys to the Bluebell corn maze. Well, local meaning we only had to drive for about 40 minutes :) to get there. We weren't sure if we wre going to go since it's been raining the last two days here. Luckily, Saturday turned out to be a nice day.

It is a miniature version of the one at Thanksgiving Point. Elliot loved the cow train (aka a few make shift wagons made out of empty barrels attached to the 4-wheeler).

We tried to get him to smile for the camera but no such luck! Must be the Russian half in him coming out :))) He had the most serious face every time he rode it.

Then there was a pvc slide :) Yeah, very interesting! Elliot went on it at least a hundred times. I guess he liked it.

They also had a few really cute baby goats that we got to feed.

And of course, it wouldn't be a corn maze without a corn maze, right. Well, I have to say that it was not such a good idea to go through it with the kiddos! First of all, we didn't grab a map. And then Elliot got tired just after 15 minutes of us wandering in it. Then he had to go potty :))) So we just took a shortcut and got outta there.

They also had a sandbox with all sorts of john deere toys (not that we would expect it any different) and a big barn filled with corn for kiddos to play in as a sandbox. I think Elliot liked it the best.

And of course we went to the real pumpkin patch to pick out our own pumpkins for home decor (hoping to make pumpkin pies later too) Unfortunately we didn't take any pictures there since Liam fell asleep, and Elliot was too fast picking out his pumpkin that he was back on the wagon before anyone else. And we all were quite tired by then too. I found this cute little one, white with orange stripes. Justin was a little hesitant to pick it at first , "don't they want it to grow bigger" he said. It made me laugh since the actual plants were all dead and bone dry. (the last 2 weeks the temperature here dropped below freezing already). Now you know who does the gardening in our family :)))

Well, one thing is great about entertainment here in Uintah Basin is that concessions are very inexpensive. So, we ate lunch there, and also got a bag of kettle corn for the ride home. Can I say it was the best kettle corn I've ever had!!!

P.S. Our little Liam started sorta crawling this last week too!!!He's been getting around by army crawl and rolling before that. Now he gets up on his hands and knees and dives into stuff :)

July Updates so far

It's been a while since my last post. We have been busy with tons of projects around the house and taking care of the kids of course. They are a handful I have to say!

Elliot is still trying to adjust with his new role as a big brother. But he's getting better. He is very sweet with Liam, and helps me take care of him a lot. His most favorite thing is changing diapers, especially the poopy ones for some reason:)) And he likes to entertain the babies during tummy time. I have been watching our friends' little girl Sophia three times a week, she is only two weeks older than Liam. So, I guess I kinda know how it is to have twins :))
He has been talking so much lately! Non stop! And repeating absolutely everything we say. A few weeks ago we were outside in our backyard, and Elliot saw the neighbour's dog. (I have to mention that a few days prior that Justin and I were talking about that same dog, and I said "it's not a dog, it's a horse").

The lady was smiling but I still feel embarrassed!
Oh, and everything is followed by " oh my gosh!" exclamation nowadays.

Liam has been a bit fussy so far. But he is past his 8-week mark, so hopefully it will get better soon. I still get up with him a couple times during the night. There is not much going on with him yet. He still sleeps a lot, but starting to be more and more awake during the day. Liam is really good on his tummy. I can't believe he already rolls over!!! He is a very active little guy!

We took the boys to the pool at the rec. center today. It was Liam's first time at the pool, so we just stayed in the kiddie area where the water is nice and warm. He liked it alright. It's not much fun when people splash you though! Elliot loved it though. It's been a while since we took him there. He can go on all the kids slides all by himself now! Not without a life jacket though. I was sad to see that he forgot a lot of the things from our swimming lessons. But I guess it's to be expected since we stopped attending them when I got pregnant.

Liam's been sleeping our bedroom at first, then we moved him to the office. So, this weekend he graduated to his big crib, and now our boys are officially sharing a bedroom. I am still a bit nervous about Elliot climbing into the crib.

We have also been working on our backyard a lot this summer. I will post some pictures soon so you can see. It's coming along!

Welcome home baby Liam!

Yes, he is finally here!!! Liam Alexander Morris was born on May 24th at 13:53pm, weighing 8lbs 13oz, 20in long. Yes, I got my wish for a smaller baby!!! :) And boy, it was much easier this time.We went to the hospital on Thursday morning for a scheduled induction. I wasn't due for another week, but my OB decided it would be wise not to wait that long since Elliot was quite large. They broke my water at 8am, and I was already at 4cm at that point. Then the nurse sent me for a long walk, but that didn't do a thing. So I was put on petocin at 10am,got to 6cm in just one hour. Then the epidural did its magic!!! I was complete by 1pm, the doctor got everything ready, I pushed for about 20 min and he was here! Yes, it was that easy! Now comes the hard part - taking care of a 2 year old and a newborn!

Updates

This one will be the last post today, I promise.
First of all,just in case you were gonna ask - NO WE DO NOT HAVE A BABY YET!!!! I have been dilated for about 2 weeks now, but no signs of actual labor yet :( Or at least not that I have noticed. And it's all new to me, all those contractions, and lots of pressure, since I was induced early with Elliot. So, really, I don't even know hat to wait for. I am going to see my OB today, so we'll see. I hope he's going to send me to the hospital right away, but it's just my wishful thinking :) Justin, Elliot and I are doing 5 mile run/walk/stroll this Saturday, so I am hopeful it will get things going. I know, I know, I am crazy for doing this being pregnant! I actually have been a lot more active this pregnancy and loved it.

Elliot is getting to be more and more defiant each day. Which drives me crazy sometimes, but he is so cute!!! Terrible twos I guess. This last week he decided to be more independent!!! He wants to do it all by himself, so dressing, potty, and even car rides has become more difficult. It takes him forever to put his pants and shoes on, buckle himself into his car seat, even make his own food!!!

Weekend Project # 2

This last weekend we were working on our front yard. The lawn was in pretty bad shape when we moved in. Well, it's still not the best looking, but we are working on it. There was also a big dirt spot, so Justin and I tooka trip to Lowes (yes, we do have one around here believe it or not!!!) and $150 later we had our landscaping all done.

Unfortunately there were no sod at the store, so we have to wait a few weeks to see the grass there. Oh well. And I just noticed that grass does look better already! It's amaizing what a bag of fertilizer and regular watering can do in such a short time!

Weekend Project #1

I was meaning to post this a couple of weeks ago, but it gets busy around here. Anyways, we finally got our dining room repainted. Here's before and after photos.

Home sweet home

So, I finally got around to it. Yay!! There are still lots of projects we are working on to improve the looks and functionality, so don't be too harsh. It is an older house after all :)
