Elliot's 2nd Birthday

I don't have much time to write today, but I thought I'd share some pictures from Ell's birthday. We went to Salt Lake that weekend, and took him to the Living Planet Aquarium since he loves fish.

Our big 2 year old

Checking out the fishies

Couldn't get him to stay still for the camera

No, it's not real

Yeah, yeah, we can read :)

Too many things to look at

I was fast enough this time :)

Sailing with Grandpa

I thought that was funny

Comparing himself to a snake

The first present he went for was chocolates of course :)

New books!!! We love them!

And cars!!!

That one kept Elliot occupied for 2 hours yesterday thanks to aunt Whitney :))

He was ripping out the bows with his teeth :))
To my surprise the cake didn't work this year either. He just wasn't interested in eating it! I guess we'll have to come up with something else for him next year.

P.S. As I was working on this post, Elliot and "Mur-Murs" (our new cat Murphy and Elliot's best friend) escaped into the backyard, so I better post this and go supervise those two rascals.

Our new house

I am still working on unpacking, so there will be more pictures. But here is my boys playing in the backyard. (The swing set will be taken by the previous owner once they close on their house)

Elliot @ almost 2, part 2

I just wanted to write down(well, type up, I guess) all the little things about our adorable almost 2 year old that I want to remember. You know how it goes... you think it's cute or funny or whatever and you will always remember it...and then you forget. So, it will be a bunch of random stuff.

*Yesterday he found a little beannie baby kitten during one of the escapes at nap time. I heard him talking, and walked in to put the stinker back into his bed. Well, he was holding that kitten and opening and closing the closet doors with the cat's paws. The minute he saw me he said that kitty opened the door (in his exact words "meow тры door").
*Elliot mixes russian and english words so much that sometimes even Justin asks me what he said. One Saturday we took him to get the car washed, you know, in one of those automatic car washes. For the whole week all he wanted to do is go "мить car".
*He repeats a lot of what we say. For now the most popular phrases are "don't move", "hot day", and "big mess". I wish I could make a video to post here, but I have problems uploading stuff on our blog.
* Elliot is very helpfull, even when I don't need it! :) although I have to admit that sometimes it does come in handy.
* He wants to do things byhimself more and more. Yesterday morning he wanted to make "каш" (hot cereal) for breakfast, and he sure was the one telling me what to do!!! Love that kid!
*Temper tantrums are part of our normal everyday routine now. The other day Elliot cried for 15 minutes because "papa"(no dad in our house, once in a while he will call him "dada", but it's very rare) wanted to use the bathroom in private!
*This one to go along with the previous post about dressing himself

Too bad you can't see it on the picture, but he made me put summer sandals on him too!!
*Another picture. This one is called "papa бри" no translation needed :)

*Everything in the house is labeled mama's or papa's. And I mean everything! And according to Elliot we have about equal amont of stuff...until it comes to the cars! There is "papa car" and "our car". "Mine" didn't stick for very long despite aunt Whitney's efforts on our last visit to G&G Morris.
*He's been out of diapers during the day for a while now, and I would make sure he used the potty every hour or so. But lately I tried to give him a little bit more control, and to my surprise he does amaizingly well! We are still having problems with #2, but I am sure he will get it really soon.
* Elliot likes to cuddle now, especially in the morning while watching his favorite shows. He loves Mickey Mouse and Elmo.
*Thanks to Sesame Street Elliot knows the concept of "up-down", "hot-cold", and I've been working on "left and right" with him as well.
*He is a very active little boy to say the least.! He enjoys climbing, jumping, and running around.

Well, that's it for now. I am sure I will think of more once I post this.
